Age calculator

Calculate an exact age

Enter a date of birth and, if needed, a different “as on” date. You get years, months and days plus a birthday countdown, with no server round-trip.

A real calendar date; future dates are rejected.

Defaults to today. Change it to age on another date.

How to use the result

Why dates are handled carefully

Age is a calendar quantity: the same date in two timezones must produce the same answer. This calculator converts both inputs to UTC midnight and compares calendar fields, so a browser in India and one in UTC−8 agree. Month-end cases such as 31 January are clamped rather than allowed to overflow into March.

Age questions

How is the age calculated?

Calendar arithmetic, not a division by 365. Month anniversaries are clamped: 31 January plus one month is the last day of February. All dates are handled as UTC midnight, so daylight saving and your device timezone cannot shift the result.

What about a 29 February birthday?

In a non-leap year the birthday is observed on 28 February, which is the common convention. The countdown uses that date.

Why is the total days figure not years × 365?

Because leap years add days. Total days is the real difference between the two calendar dates, including every 29 February in between.

Can I calculate age on a future date?

Yes for the “age as on” date, which is useful for forms and planning. A birth date in the future is rejected.
