SIP calculator

Project a monthly SIP

Enter a monthly amount, a duration and an assumed annual return. The result separates what you invest from the projected gain, and states the timing assumption.

Reading the numbers

Why the assumption matters

Equity funds do not return 12% every year. A flat assumption shows the shape of compounding, not a forecast. Try 8% and 14% to see how sensitive the result is, and treat both ends as a range rather than a promise.

SIP questions

What does the calculator assume?

A constant monthly investment, a constant annual return compounded monthly, and contributions at the start of each month by default. You can switch to end-of-month. Real funds do not deliver a constant return.

Which formula is used?

For contributions at the start: FV = P × ((1+i)^n − 1) / i × (1+i), where i is the annual return divided by 12 and 100. At the end of the month the final (1+i) factor is omitted. At 0% both reduce to P × n.

Is this investment advice?

No. It is an illustration of compounding, not a recommendation or a guarantee. Actual returns vary and can be negative; expenses and taxes reduce the outcome.

Why do contributions at the start produce more?

Each instalment is invested one month earlier, so it earns one extra month of return. The difference grows with the return and the tenure.
